This trip will cover the 8 mile stretch of the Betsie from Wallin / Long Road to Lindy Road, just outside of Thompsonville. The river is suitable for an adventurous beginner but it does requires some maneuvering and we will encounter at least one downed tree. The water is warm, shallow and very clear. We will meet in the morning, and stop for lunch midway through the paddle. The trip should take about four hours at a modest rate.
We will meet at 10am at Betsie River Canoes and Campground. 13598 Lindy rd. Thomsonville.
http://www.brcanoesandcampground.com. For us GPS freaks the lat long of the campground is :
44.520967,-85.967274
They will haul us and our boats to the put in.
Bring lunch. Bow and stern lines are very helpful if we have to do a pull over on a downed tree.
If you want, you can check out the trip report from 8/4/13 for a description of a previous run of this trip.
