This trip on the Pine River will go from Elm Flats to Peterson.  Each car will need to have a vehicle permit ($5 per day if you don't have an annual pass - pay at the parking areas).  We have ordered watercraft permits and the club will pay for them.
 
We will meet Friday morning (exact time to be included with your email confirmation), do the shuttle and then head downstream.  There will be a break for lunch at Dobson.  Paddling time should be about 4 hours.

Given the possibility of tight turns, obstructions, and maneuvering through riffles, you will need to be able to move your boat sideways and place it anywhere on the river.  If you are not sure that you have the skills to paddle the Pine, call Lois and John to talk about it.  Hopefully it should be a nice trip through the little rapids that await us between Dobson and Peterson.  There are good opportunities for wildlife sightings, and maybe some wildflowers along the river banks.

Pine River (Elm Flats Access)

You will really need a good map; look at it before you read this!  Drive to the corner of M-37 and M-55 (about 45 minutes south of Chums Corner), and then turn left (east) onto M-55 for 2.2 miles.  Turn right (south) on No. 7 Road, and follow it as it turns east, south and east again.  At the Hoxeyville intersection (there's a sign for the Hoxeyville Country Apartments on the corner), turn right onto Old State Road.  It’s the only paved road you can choose after you’ve been driving east for 1.5 miles.  Then there will be several turns east and south, and after about 3 miles, at one corner, there is a sign for Elm Flats; turn right and follow the road down to the Elm Flats Access.
