This trip is on a delightful section of the Betsie, which will give you the opportunity to practice maneuvering your boat in current. It's a perfect river for adventurous beginners who are interested in learning how to handle a boat in moving water. We will meet at Grace Road put in, and spend the afternoon (about 3 hours) winding our way under a canopy of trees on our way to Betsie Bay.  In most places, the depth of the water is 2-3 feet, although there are several great swimming holes with water that's chest deep. There is a good possibility for wildlife sightings and swim breaks.

Details about meeting time will be sent to you with your email confirmation.  Everyone should bring a boat, paddle, PFD, ropes to tie on the bow and stern, water bottle and a snack. Don't forget your sunhat and sunglasses with a retainer. And have a change of clothes and shoes in the vehicle so you can be nice and dry on your way home.

Driving Directions to Grace Road Put In
:
Head to Benzonia via US-31. Just south of town, turn west (right) on Grace Road just past Shop'N Save and go 0.5 miles; it's the first landing.
