Here's a wonderful opportunity to get out of town and enjoy a local river. This little stream is one of the gems of Northwest Michigan. Starting early in the morning, on a weekday, we probably won't meet many other river users. Our time on the water to Deadstream Road should be about 3 hours. We can go out for lunch afterwards.
Everyone should bring a boat, paddle, PFD, ropes to tie on the bow and stern, water bottle and a snack. Don't forget your sunhat and sunglasses with a retainer.
Driving directions: Platte River (Upper section)
Veteran's Park Campground, on the south side of US-31. It's about eight miles west of Interlochen Corners, just west of the bridge where US-31 crosses the Platte River, just beyond the Fish Hatchery and Thompsonville Highway.
