About this event
Come paddle the fastest water in the lower peninsula. We just got word that there is a narrow slot that has just been cut through the log jam that was blocking the river earlier this summer. So this trip is open to all TAPC members who can negotiate that passageway.
Although it isn’t technically whitewater, paddling the Sturgeon requires you to frequently make quick maneuvers in fast current. If you have had lots of practice on narrow twisty rivers, this may be
the chance you have been waiting for! It's a bit of a drive from TC to Wolverine, but worth it! We will begin in Wolverine and take out at Fisher Woods Road.
If you aren't sure if your skills are up to the challenge, contact the trip host to discuss whether this is the right trip for you. You will need good reflexes and a boat that turns quickly. Bow and stern lines are required. If you have a throw bag and a saw, bring them along. Kayakers should take a spray skirt too. There will be a stop for a leisurely lunch break halfway through the trip.
