May 28 Kingsley kids on the Boardman

I was the "sweep" for Brenda's Wednesday afternoon 4th grade class from Kingsley, and it was certainly tame compared to Mrs Bell's class Friday afternoon. Of course, it helped that it was in the low 80s, so they could enjoy the water fights between canoes, learning balance, paddle strokes & skills in the process. Only one canoe tipped, and the mother helped swim the canoe to the bank, where a father helped me tip the water out & flip it. Even the more timid kids got into the act, as we progressed downstream. When we got to the racer's "S" turn, I instructed them that all had to paddle through it before more water fights could be continued. And then, I looked at my watch, and it was almost 2PM, so we had to get moving to make it to the bus in time. I really enjoyed all of the mothers & fathers, who got into the action, too. I will be back for more fun with them next yr.
