June 10 - Brown Bridge Pond
Published on 6/10/2010
No problem with nine paddlers up nice and early to explore Brown Bridge Pond. For most of the group, it was their first trip there, so they were glad to find a place so close to home where they can return and explore on their own. We had sunshine and cool temps, and no wind. Shared the pond with the swan family: mom, dad and about 5 cygnets. Also spotted a couple of turtles, and a family of mergansers. Didn't see the eagle, but we did have time to observe the loon parents: one floating nearby while the other sat on the nest.
After the boats were loaded, we walked across the dam to view the river below, since some were wondering about the difference between the water above and below the dam. Vive la difference! Then it was off to lunch at OPA! Yummy!
Participants included Lois & John, Maureen Anthony, Kathy & John Daniels, Tracie Lord, Roger Lougheed, Sandy & Dennis Stockemer.
