June 27 TAPC Open House - Demo Day

June 27 Demo - Open House Event

The event was held at the Sugar Beach Resort on East Grand Traverse Bay.

We wanted to get several dealers to bring canoes and kayaks for members and guests to demo.   Backcountry Outfitters, McLain's Cycle and Fitness and Sailsport Marine were there to demo boats.  All in all, there were about 45 kayaks, some paddle boards, and a solo canoe to try out.

Several of our members brought boats to loan out if needed.



The weather didn't seem to want to cooperate early in the day, but at the last minute, the weather cleared and it was another nice day in Northern Michigan.

35 or so guests arrived to partake of the demo boats.  Persons of all ages from 10 to 70 were there.




Lois tried the paddle board twice and did really well.


A few seemed interested in joining the club and several bought a Paddle Guide that John and Lois had recently edited and had gotten published.

It was a very successful event for our first attempt and we plan to do it again next year.
