About this event
The Pere Marquette River is about 75 miles from TC, but it's worth the drive. This trip will go from Bowman Bridge to Upper Branch Bridge. It's about a 13 mile journey with a good current; paddling time is about 4 hours. The river is fairly easy, with a sand bottom all the way. We will stop for a leisurely lunch break along the way, plus a swim break if the mood strikes us. Please take something to sit on while we have our lunch break.
We don't get to the Pere Marquette very often, since we need to get watercraft permits for summertime paddling. I will take care of that. You will need a vehicle pass to park at the accesses for the river: $5 per car if you don't already have one. The National Parks senior pass will do the trick.

From Baldwin, take 7th street west 5 blocks to Cherry Street, then south 1.5 blocks to 52nd Street (Carr Road), go west 4 miles to the Bowman Bridge access. Here's a Google map link:
