July 15 John's birthday on the Boardman

People: John (the birthday boy), Lois, Jocelyn, Mike T, Marlene, Marv, Tom W & nephew Eric from Atlanta, and new TAPC members Vicki & Peter

Place: Boardman River from Brown Bridge Dam to Beitner Road

Weather: spectacular!  Not quite warm enough for real swim breaks, but not uncomfortable when John and Lois were walking in thigh-deep water to help guide Vicki and Peter through their lessons on ferrying, eddy turns and peel-outs, and leaning downstream into obstacles.





Highlights: Jocelyn's blueberry muffins at the start, paddling beneath the Vietnam veterans' flag near River Road, John's solo canoe almost floating away when he stepped out to do some instruction, and a hearty birthday lunch at Red Lobster!
