August 7 Boardman River

Published on 8/7/2011
This was a very peaceful paddle with an airshow.  The cedar waxwings provided the show.  They seemed to be everywhere.  There were lots of birds including a heron, a belted kingfisher, and goldfinches.  I also saw a deer and some kind of river weasel.  The only other person I saw was a fisherman.  I did a thumb shuttle and was on the river shortly after 10:00.  I got out at Scheck's about 90 minutes later.  As most of you know, this is a beautiful section of river.  The sun shone about half the time.  I was hoping that some of the Little Manistee paddlers (postponed to Monday) would join me.  As it was, the solitude was invigorating.
