July 4 Upper Pine River from Briar Patch to Walker Bridge

Published on 7/4/2012

After following the long and winding road to the put-in at Briar Patch, we found there was a whole lot a shaking goin' on due to the swarms of gnats.  The drivers all took off to run the shuttle, got on the magic bus captained by Val and made it back in record time.  Soon we were all rollin' on the river.

Kayaks - M&M, Marvin, Kati, Judy, Tracie. Canoes - L&J, Fred.  It was hotter than a pepper sprout and we were soon splish, splash takin' a bath to cool off.  Regrouping at lunch, Tracie said, "Help! I need somebody, just not anybody, I need somebody with a fork!"  Scott, who was just hangin' out scouting the river, provided the utensil from his well stocked truck.  Post lunch Kati got by with a little help from her friends in the form of Fred loaning his new canoe for a try, concluding with a few hints on stalking and capturing river garbage.

Kati is well on her way to becoming the trash princess.  At the end it was Happy Trails to you and we'll meet again some day.
