Main AuSable River Trip
On the morning of
August 20th, 2012, the Peaceful Valley crew, containing John, Lois,
Gracie, and Paige set off to the Main AuSable. We were joined by Tracie, Marv
and Marlene, Fred and Judy and Mark. After getting the boats all ready, the
shuttle took off to the take-out spot of Stephan Bridge. During the break we
spotted a huge Blue Heron, and a kitten.
Paige taught Gracie how to tie a bowline.
The shuttle returned
and the group set off. Gracie was with Lois and Paige started with John in the
two tandem canoes. The temperature was
very nice, but the water was freezing.
After two hours of paddling, we stopped at Canoe Harbor Camp for lunch.

Gracie and Paige enjoyed the warmth of the sun after lunch.
We
enjoyed a nice picnic lunch and set off again. This time, Paige was with Lois
and Gracie was with John.

On the trip to
the take-out, we saw many ducks, Canada geese, fish and another cat. We passed
many fly fishermen and beautiful homes along the water. We ended almost an hour
early around 3pm. After a long paddle, we enjoyed ice cream at Dawson and
Steven’s. Overall it was a great day and
fun trip! J
