May 13 Upper Lakes Challenge #1

Published on 5/14/2018
Ron organized a great start to the 2018 Chain of Lakes Challenge.
Mother's Day fun began with some serious play on the swings, slide & merry-go-round found at the sweet park by the put-in. Ya' gotta do something after your boat is rigged while the shuttle is being run!
The paddle took place on Six Mile Lake which had a high water level. Jackie was able to paddle completely over a dock leading out to a swim platform.
There were Merganser ducks & Sandhill cranes, amoung the wildlife spotted.
We took a short rest break at a landing about three quarters of the way into the journey.
Henry made a smart decision for the group by nixing the route through the culvert that lead to the original take out. The water was too high & fast for a safe passage. We took out on river right along a grassy bank instead, all the paddlers were happy with this alternative plan after scouting the outlet of the culvert after exiting the lake.
