July 7 Betsie from County Line to Fred's Landing

I love this section of the river!  It's never crowded, even on a hot midsummer weekend.  We saw only one other paddler all day long.  What I love the most is the fact that you have to pay attention, and the current isn't very strong.  So I can use my fiberglass solo canoe, and test my maneuvering skills at every turn and downed tree.  The bottom is sand - no rocks - so it's quiet even if you do hit a sand bar.  We used our pruning saws once to clear a narrow path through a fallen tree - actually Max did virtually all of the work.  What a guy!
Also, special thanks to Marv Puska for doing the shuttle for us.  He has been a treasure all summer long and it was time for the TAPC Board to reward him with a gas card to help pay for fuel.
