Trip Reports

September 30 Upper Platte

Published on 9/30/2018
It was a brisk fall afternoon for a fun filled paddle. We all met, unloaded, ran the shuttle & set off for what turned out to be a wildlife spotting extravaganza. We saw two deer deep in a cedar grove, various ducks, Great Blue Heron, porcupine up in a tree and a beautiful Bald Eagle. The river was chock a block full of salmon but only a few fishermen.
We took out at Platte Lake where the landing site has been messed up by a downed paper birch tree making taking out slightly more difficult than normal due to blocking part of the way. There was more mud along the shoreline with which we had to contend.
We repaired to the Platte River Inn for hot drinks & food to fortify us for the return drive home.
