On Friday April 22, I joined the Traverse Area Paddle Club, and then on Saturday went on my first trip with them down the Lower Platte River. Lois organized and led the excursion. She offered me information about paddling safety procedures, best practices, and paddling equipment, which was all very helpful. This was a very friendly group of people who generously shared their stories of canoeing/kayaking on a very relaxed paddle down the river. The weather was perfect as was the company and the experience. I really enjoyed getting to know everyone and sharing a delightful paddle on the Platte. Although we couldn't attend, some of the group went to a nearby restaurant afterwards to top off a great time.
