This will be an open water paddle along the shore of East Grand Traverse Bay.  At the turn-around point, we plan to get out and explore the Petobego State Game Area, which was recently deeded to the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy.  For more info seehttp://www.whitewatertownship.org/petobego-natural-area.html
Actually, most of the shoreline is public land, so we can pull over almost anywhere.  Bring a kayak that's at least 12 feet long or longer.   Bring a lunch or snack to eat, plenty of water, maybe a chair if wanted.  PFDs to be worn at all time while on the water.  We will be staying in a group and watching out for each other. Elk Rapids Beach... take 31 to Elk Rapids, turn and go down though town.. continue until you see the beach.. go to the end of the street where the 90 degree turn is to the left.. there is parking on the street.. we will be putting it there.
