June 7 Pine River from Elm Flats to Peterson

Mark Gottsleben  | Published on 6/7/2016

Although the weather was cold and gray, our group of hardy souls was well prepared and we focused on the natural beauty and surroundings that the Pine River is known for.  For me as a new member to the Traverse Area Paddle Club, it was a great day as it had been a very long time since I had last canoed the river.  Other than numerous  ducks with their ducklings, we had the river to ourselves.  The  river was clear of any downed trees and because of the determined efforts of Fred and Jocelyn, the river was left cleaner than we found it.  Check out the one picture!  Thank you John, for taking all the pictures that we all enjoy seeing, and Lois for arranging the shuttle and obtaining the needed permits.  Our group was Lois, John, Tracie, Marlene, Fred, Jocelyn with Max, and myself, Mark.
